I already pay a dual system. Can I keep my operator, and do I pay twice?

You can keep your operator, and quantities already licensed this year are not licensed again. What changes is whose name the contract is in.

Quick answer

You can keep your operator, and you do not pay twice. Quantities already licensed for this year stay licensed and are not licensed again. What changes is whose name the contract is in: under § 5(3) VerpackDG the authorised representative performs the duties it takes on in its own name, including system participation, so the participation moves under your representative. Participations entered into before 12 August 2026 continue until 31 December 2026 at the latest (§ 68(1)).

What stays the same

Your LUCID registration and number stay yours. The quantities you have already licensed for the current year count, and the licence fee you paid for them is not charged again.

What changes

From the appointment, the representative holds the system participation for your packaging. You can name the operator you want to stay with; otherwise we place your volumes with whichever operator is cheapest for your materials. Licence fees are passed through at cost, with no markup.

What to send us

Your current contract or last invoice from the operator, so we can see what is already licensed for the year. Clients upload it in the portal.
